Characters

Addie Singer
Her life isn’t exactly fabulous, but she doesn’t let it bother her. Being a part of the popular crowd isn’t important to Addie. In fact, she thinks cliques are pretty dumb. Addie’s a smart and funny 7th grader who still likes to act like a kid sometimes. When she’s stressed or confused, Addie writes songs and records her own music—but only in the privacy of her own room. It doesn’t bother Addie that her songs are less than perfect, and she doesn’t even dream of being a rock star. All she wants to do is get through middle school with as little humiliation as possible!

Geena
GeGeena Fabiano is Addie’s best girlfriend and unlike most teens, she’s totally comfortable with who is is and what she looks like. Geena’s never satisfied with the shortness of her skirt—that is until she gets a warning from the principal. Then she KNOWS she’s got it just right. Geena keeps Addie and Zach from making fools of themselves in public. Or at least she tries to…

Zach
He’s Addie’s best guy friend. He’s an offbeat kind of guy and he’s totally into social issues and causes. Zach even went barefoot to protest the social importance of name brand sneakers. Zach is not all activist all the time, though. He’s actually an athlete and a member of the Rocky Road Middle School basketball team too!

Sue
She’s Addie’s mom and the two of them have a great relationship! Since her kids have grown up she’s taken her dry sense of humour back to work as a real-estate agent.

Jeff
Addie’s dad is having a tough time getting used to the fact that Addie is growing up and is often confused by the every-day life of his 13 year-old daughter. He just doesn’t get her extensive shoe collection or how quickly she goes through lip gloss. Jeff is one of those dads who’d like to keep his little girl forever, but he’s trying hard not to show it.

Ben Singer
Addie and her older brother are total opposites. He’s a popular teen who gives new meaning to the work “hunk.” She’s still trying to find her groove at school and in life in general. Ben knows Addie hasn’t had it as easy as he has, and he tries to make her suffer as much as possible with her unfabulousness.
