Characters

Kira Yamoto
Kira is a 16 year-old, first-generation Coordinator who lives in Heliopolis, a neutral territory in space. He possesses superhuman abilities and is a computer programming wiz. Kira finds himself right in the middle of the war between the Naturals and Coordinators when his colony is attacked by ZAFT; the military of the Coordinator inhabited space colonies (the PLANTs). He soon finds himself fighting against his own kind to protect his friends and loved ones.

Fllay Allster
She is the daughter of an Earth Alliance Minister and a schoolmate of Kira. After escaping from the destruction of her space colony and watching her father’s ship destroyed by Coordinators, she joins the military and swears to avenge her father.

Sai Argyle
Sai is a student at Heliopolis College along with his fiancé Fllay and schoolmate Kira. Unlike his fiancé, Sai is comfortable with Kira being a Coordinator, and joins in the fight along side his friend on the bridge of the Archangel warship as an electronic warfare specialist.

Mariallia Haww
Mariallia is a student at Heliopolis, and the best friend of Kira. After escaping the space colony’s destruction she, like many others, volunteers as a crew member on the Archangel warship. However she is put to work as a field controller.

Tolle Koenig
Tolle is a cheerful student at Heliopolis, and close friend of Kira's. He, like most of the others who were able to escape the space colony before it was destroyed, finds himself aboard Archangel Warship. To show support for his friend Kira, he volunteers on the bridge and eventually a Mobile Armor pilot.

Kuzzey Buskirk
Kuzzey is one of Kira's classmates from the Heliopolis College who also managed to escape the space colony before it was destroyed. He, unlike his comrades, is very suspicious and prejudice against Coordinators, which makes him very weary of Kira. However, he still joins his friends in volunteering on the ship, and is assigned to the Archangel's bridge crew as a communications operator.

Murrue Ramius
Murrue is a tough Lieutenant who finds herself standing in as captain on the Earth Alliance warship Archangel after the original captain and superior officers are slain in the attack on Heliopolis. Although she’s tough and competent, she is also very kind-hearted, and often lets military protocol come second to human impulse. This attitude often puts her in the hot seat with her deputy, Natarle Badgiruel.

Mwu La Fllaga
Mwu La Fllaga, also nicknamed Halk of Endymion, is a famous pilot with the Earth Alliance and part of the core leadership of the Archangel warship. He earned his nickname when he single-handedly shot down five ZAFT mobile suits in an earlier battle. Besides being a great pilot with extensive combat experience, he acts as a big brother for most on the Archangel, and is the key to boosting morale on the ship with his laid back and informal personality.

Natarle Badgiruel
Natarle is a young combat commander on the Earth Alliance warship Archangel who supervises the ship's Combat Information Center. With family roots deep in the military, she is very strict about regulations and rules with an iron fist. Her intense attitude often brings her into conflict with Murrue Ramius, the Archangel’s acting captain.

Arnold Neumann
As one of the few survivors of the Archangel’s original crew, Arnold takes over as the ship’s new pilot after the attack on Heliopolis.

Kojiro Murdoch
Kojiro is the chief mechanic on the Earth Alliance warship Archangel who, with a small team of gifted engineers, keeps the ship and its fighting vehicles in fine working order.

Jackie Tonomura
As one of the few surviving original crew members of the Earth Alliance warship Archangel, Tonomura works in the ship's Combat Information Center specializing in enemy search and detection.

Dalida Lolaha Chandra II
As one of the few surviving crew members of the Earth Alliance warship Archangel, Chandra works in the ship's Combat Information Center manning one of its electronic warfare stations while also supervising all civilian volunteers.

Romero Pal
As one of the few surviving crew members of the Earth Alliance warship Archangel, Pal works on the ship's bridge where he's in charge of the fire control systems.

Athrun Zala
After the loss of his mother in an earlier battle, Athurn, an old childhood friend of Kira, signed-up to become a member of the elite ZAFT commando team who have sworn to destroy the treacherous Earth Alliance for good. After he learns that Kira has taken the side of his enemy, Athrun is determined to make Kira see that he is being manipulated.

Yzak Jule
As a second generation Coordinator, and a skilled pilot for the captured Duel Gundam, Yzak carries an arrogant pride of his elite status. His hot temper and aggressive manner make him ideal for engaging in heated battles with the enemy.

Dearka Elthman
Dearka is a pilot for the captured Buster Gundam and member of the ZAFT elite commandos. He has inherited his father’s hatred for the Naturals, and as a result is a natural ally for his equally arrogant team-mate Yzak Jule.

Nicol Amarfi
Although he is a member of the ZAFT team which attacked Heliopolis and a pilot for the captured Blitz Gundam, Nicol feels sympathy for the casualties of the battle. His sentimental attitude leads to resentment from his more radical team-mates, who accuse him of cowardice. His sole ally among the ZAFT Gundam team is Athrun, who serves as his brother and protector.

Rau Le Creuset
Hidden under a mask, shrouded in mystery, Rau is one of the more sinister members of the Creuset team. He is a skilled tactician and mobile suit pilot and is highly valued by the ZAFT leadership.

Lacus Clyne
Although she is the daughter of ZAFT's leader, Lacus has a sunny disposition and treats everyone she meets with respect and kindness. She is also huge pop star which has made her the idol of the Coordinators.

Siegel Clyne
As leader of the Coordinators and commander in chief of the ZAFT forces, Siegel leads his people into battle with the Earth Alliance. He is also the father of the young Lacus Clyne.

Patrick Zala
As a member of the PLANT Supreme Council, and the chairman of its National Defence Committee, Patrick is in support of an all-out war against the Earth Alliance. He is also the father of Athrun, a member of the elite ZAFT commandos.

Cagalli Yula Athha
Cargalli is the civilian daughter of a leader of the neutral nation Orb. After learning that her nation has been aiding the Earth Alliance, Cagalli travels to Heliopolis to confirm her father's treacherous acts.
