Misa Amane
Misa Amane is the second person to carry a Death Note. Not only does she possess a second Death Note, but she traded half of her life span for her Shinigami eyes. A popular idol in Japan, she has a massive crush on Light and tends to wear many different styles of clothing. A bit immature at times, Misa tends to refer to herself in the third person in an attempt be “cute”.
Rem
Rem is the female Shinigami, similar to Ryuk, who gives Misa her Death Note and her Shinigami eyes. Rem has two Death Notes; her second was inherited from another Shinigami who died when he saved Misa's life. For this reason, Rem thought it only appropriate to pass the Death Note on to Misa. Unlike Ryuk, Rem is willing to protect Misa with her own life.
Ryuk
Ryuk is the Shinigami (god of death) who dropped the Death Note in the human world for Light. He has a fondness for apples and can only be seen and heard by someone who touches the Death Note.
Soichiro Yagami
Soichiro Yagami is Chief of the Task Force designated to capture the person responsible for the killings. He is also Light's father.
Watari
Watari is the only man who knows L's face or whereabouts. A well-mannered gentleman, Watari is highly intelligent and has a close connection to L.
Light Yagami (Kira)
Light is highly intelligent, an ace student, and bored to tears. But his whole life changes when he finds the Death Note, left for him by the Shinigami (god of death) Ryuk. Light decides to use the Death Note to save the world by cleansing Earth of all criminals. In doing this, he believes he can create a utopia and then reign over this new world as its new God.
L
A top-ranked detective, L is hired to track down and arrest the person responsible for the mass killing of criminals. L has many quirks including an unusual way of sitting down and a real sweet tooth. He is Light’s primary nemesis, and will go to drastic measures to track down and arrest the killer.
