This summer in a word? WOW!
Thank you to EVERYONE who came by the WOW! Truck! I'm going to miss all of your smiling faces, your cheering (1,2,3.. YTV!) and above all your enthusiasm. You have all taught me SO much about YTV and I sincerely had a great time chatting with you all at the different venues. GOOD LUCK back at school (ewwwwwww!) and make sure you come back to visit the WOW! Truck again next summer. The fun will be waiting.

My name is Lightnin' Laura and I am SuPeR excited to be part of the YTV WOW East Crew this summer!

It was awesome to be a part of opening weekend at the Ex! The first day was rainy (my anti-rain dance OBVIOUSLY wasn't in full effect!) but Saturday and Sunday were sunny and beautiful! TONS of you came out to meet our new WOW crew member Colin, play our games and were cheering SO LOUD which made our long days fly by! When we weren't playing our games we found time this weekend to hang out with Doo Doo the clown (from the Daniel Craig show!), try out the LEGO CENTRE (the tower I built was SO high!) and even toss around some dough at the Pizza Nova build your own pizza station!

I’m feeling creative today so here is what happened this week …acrostic poem stlyz!

This last week and a half has been a total blast on the WOW tour! Hollywood and I went to Marineland in Niagara where we got to go behind the scenes to feed and pat the beluga whales… they are so cute we both had to kiss them. .. SLIMY! Groovin’ Garrett and I were also at the Toys R’ Us across from Sherway Gardens where tons of you came out and battled us, each other, your siblings (and even some of your parents!) for some of our cool prizes! We also stopped by the new Walmart in Mississauga but got rained out so we passed out GLOP and WOAH magazines inside… did you see us there? We were the ones in the WOW uniforms (SUPER) SOAKING WET!!
Come see us this week because we have a brand spankin’ new game called *Cosmic Keep Away* for you to test out… the East Crew is back at Wild Water Kingdom all week long and African Lion Safari this weekend!

I learned SO MUCH this week while visiting the Ontario Science Centre and the Toronto Zoo with the rest of the East Crew! At the Science Centre Groovin’ Garrett and I rode on a giant rover just like they use to explore Mars, sampled astronaut food and visited the Kids Zone! I was impressed with how interactive and fun all of the exhibits were. We also met a Science Centre regular named Wasang who led us on our mini tour…thanks dude, we couldn’t have asked for a better guide!
The zoo was also neat! It rained a TON on our last day there so Hollywood and I rode the Zoomobile and got to check out tons of really cool animals! My favorite was the gorillas! They have such human like characteristics! We also drew for Nerf prize packs each day which were very well received, check out one of our winners below! The prize pack is almost taller than her!

I had a wonderful week at Wild Water Kingdom with the rest of the East crew! The weather was crazy hot so our lines to play Super Soaker were HUGE! Plus, all of you guys who came to visit were already decked out in your bathing suits which was perfect because you weren’t afraid to get SUPER SOAKED!! We caused such a commotion at Wild Water Kingdom that the Hippo (the park’s mascot if you didn’t know!) came out to be a part of the action! Check us out in the photo below!
Next week the East crew will be at the Ontario Science Centre and visiting some REAL animals (no hard feelings hippo!) at the Toronto Zoo!
Also, don’t forget to check out the video section of the website and vote for
the EAST CREW! We appreciate all your support!

It was wonderful to be back at Ontario Place this week!
The truck was positioned right in front of the lake so we watched some people tubing and waterskiing while all of our games were going on! I was happy to meet a lot of camp groups and tons of families and it was neat to be at Ontario Place during their Festival of Fire (ok I’ve mentioned fireworks TWICE now in my blogs, can you tell I ABSOLUTLEY LOVE them?!) It was also cool to be at the park the day of the big Jonas brothers concert at the Molson Amphitheatre right next door… we wanted to sneak up on them during sound check but there was too much security and then as luck would have it I was shopping the next day in Toronto and WHAM! One of the Jonas brothers walks out of the store I’m going into! Check out our picture together, I look a little shocked!
I’m reading the most recent issue of YTV’s Whoa! Magazine right now and it says that tomorrow (July 7th) is National Ice Cream day!! Sweet! (literally!) What’s your favorite flavor? Post your answers to us on the message boards!

This week was tons of fun despite only OK weather! Groovin’ Garrett and I hit up Windsor for their SummerFest celebration where we gave away tons of prizes!! Highlights of our trip included speaking with members of the Canadian Forces (check us out below!) eating at Bubi’s (a popular restaurant that serves garlic with EVERYTHING!) and watching the big fireworks show with a million other people (seriously.. a million people came out to watch between Windsor and Detroit across the lake!!) Special shout outs to Dakota, John and Jordan who hung around with us for most of the week, we loved your company and enthusiasm! Bingemans this weekend was also good times! Some of the boys and girls who came to see us made up raps and cheers which were TOTALLY AWESOME! Next week the East Crew is back at Ontario Place – we hope to see AS MANY OF YOU AS POSSIBLE there!!

LL’s Joke: Why did the man freeze his money? …………………………… He wanted cold, hard cash!

I started my blog off with cheering because you guys were SO LOUD and SO full of positive energy this week at Ontario Place and the Oakville Waterfront Festival – it was amazing and it pumped me up everyday, keep it up! We saw a lot of school groups at Ontario Place (it’s the end of the school year wahoo!) and I was super impressed with everyones sportsmanship. At the Oakville Waterfront Festival we snuck up on The Johnstones (a crazy awesome Canadian band if you didn’t know!) during sound check to talk and take some pictures. They were great guys – check out a picture of myself and Groovin’ Garrett with them below! We also got to visit with the people from Reptillia Zoo who showed us a boa constrictor, alligators from the Cayman Islands and tons of other awesome animals that wouldn’t normally be hanging around Oakville! Since the East Crew is taking the WOW truck to the Windsor Summerfest bright and early tomorrow morning my joke this week is all about driving, enjoy!
LL’s Joke: What did one traffic light say to the other? …………………….. Don’t look, I’m changing!

Last week was great! I enjoyed the Walmart Store visit in Scarborough although it was a bit cold as well as the Mississauga Waterfront Festival where I got to see Susie McNeil perform, sing 'Happy Father’s Day' to all the dads and meet TONS of kids who came out to the festival just for WOW! My favorite visit however, was to Shoreham Public School where we set up the Dunkeroos SlamZone as part of their Olympic Day celebrations… and what a celebration it was! Everyone was super enthusiastic despite the hot weather - even the police officers wanted in on the action! Since my picture is basketball oriented, this week my joke is going to be all about basketball too… enjoy!

LL’s Joke: When is a baby good at basketball? ……………………………… when it dribbles!!

My nickname is Lightnin' because I'm super fast and unlike most people I LOVE storms! I also love to *LAUGH* which is why in each of my blogs I will include a joke... after all, who doesn’t enjoy a good bru ha ha every now and then?
To kick off the summer we visited the Ancaster Fairgrounds on Friday and the East Crew was at the Aurora Street Festival on Sunday. I had a blast at both playing Mission Nerf, Super Soaker (my fave!!) and ballin' in the Dunkeroos Slam Zone. I met lots of great kids and some awesome parents with TONS of YTV spirit… one little guy who stood out was Brandon who was our Fan of the Day, he had the craziest dance moves and showed tons of sportsmanship in the Dunkeroos Slam Zone!
