I bought Crisis Core because I like Final Fantasy, but it requires a system update, which is on the disk... Those aren't anything major, right? Because I actually read the terms and conditions and confused myself... lol... o_O... I imagine not, but just thought i'd ask for future reference... lol...

No they aren't anything major. Depending on your PSP(Slim or otherwise) and your firmware it may give you newer features like Skype(Slim only), build in Google search(I believe this is in Version 4 however), etc. It also often patches security holes so that hackers can't get more leverage over the handheld.
