I know Hurricane Katrina occured almost 4 years ago, but I've been doing some research, and I think it's fair to say that the response to the disaster was a collasal FAILURE. I don't care that Bush is out of office, the damage is done. Many people have been critisised in they're part of relief efforts of the hurricane, Federal Government, FEMA, "State and local goverment", etc.
So, according to a page on Wikipedia, "Criticism of government response to Hurricane Katrina", this is a list of major failiures of the response to Hurricane Katrina(In my opinion, I've also added in some of my commentary. Everything in quotations, is cited from wikipedia)
-"Criticism was prompted largely by televised images of visibly shaken and frustrated political leaders, and of residents who remained in New Orleans without water, food or shelter, and the deaths of several citizens by thirst, exhaustion, and violence days after the storm itself had passed."
- "Adding to the criticism was the broadcast of school bus parking lots full of yellow school buses which Mayor Nagin refused to be used in evacuation."
- "President Bush signed a $10.5 billion relief package within four days of the hurricane..." (4 DAYS!? I'm sorry(well actually, no I'm not) that aid should have arrived in the city LONG BEFORE then.)
-"However, members of the United States Congress and others charged that the relief efforts were slow because most of the affected areas were poor."
"Four years later, thousands of displaced residents in Mississippi and Louisiana were still living in trailers."(Wow. Now that's just stupid)
The information that is shown here is from Wikipedia, if all of it is true, I'm not sure.
To be continued. Please post!

Welcome to the world of the Bush presidency. Thankfully, he's out of office so no more damage can be done by that man.

Why did anyone vote Bush into power?
Anyways, Part 2:
-"Vice President #### Cheney was also criticized in his role in the aftermath. On the night of August 30, and again the next morning, he personally called the manager of the Southern Pines Electric Power Association and ordered him to divert power crews to electrical substations in nearby Collins, Mississippi that were essential to the operation of the Colonial Pipeline, which carries gasoline and diesel fuel from Texas to the Northeast.[20] The power crews were reportedly upset when told what the purpose of the redirection was, since they were in the process of restoring power to two local hospitals, but did so anyway." (Now that's just dispicable)
-"The Federal Emergency Management Agency was heavily criticized in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, primarily for its slow response and inability to coordinate its efforts with other federal agencies relief organizations."
-"A September 16, 2005 CNN article about Chalmette Medical Center stated, "Doctors eager to help sick and injured evacuees were handed mops by federal officials who expressed concern about legal liability... And so they mopped, while people died around them.""
-"Later, it was revealed that Michael Brown had virtually no experience in emergency management when he was appointed to the position by President Bush two years prior to Katrina.[39] Despite this, he continued to receive praise from the President even on his first visit to the area, "Brownie, you're doing a heck of a job. The FEMA Director is working 24 – they're working 24 hours a day."" (A guy who has barely any experience in emergency management is in charge of FEMA, why?)
PLEASE post!

Bush got voted into power in the first place because the Electoral College settled the legal issues around a miscount of votes from Florida. Gore did win, but the recount was done and it found Bush victorious. He was elected the second time because of post 9/11 tensions. His opponent John Kerry lost by 34 votes.
