So as most of you probably know, Obama was recently awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. So my question is, has he actually done anything to deserve it? he hasn't been in office long enough to make any major steps towards peace. Opinions?

To be perfectly honest he hasnt really done anything. I mean yah he is the first black president, and to hear him talk about peace after a 8 year presidencde of bush is refreshing. But he hasnt done much, or at least that much to win him the prize.

Obama is one of the last people on earth that deserves that prize. I'm sure he says he intends to make peace, but that doesn't deserve a prize.
Millions of blacks intend to make peace, but instead they're jailed up because of their skin colour. Where's their prize?
Many other countries want to make peace, but the U.S invade them instead. Where's their prize?
Millions of protesters intend to make peace, but instead they're gassed and beaten in the street by police. Where's their prize?
Millions of normal civilians intend to make peace, but the government tries to kill them off instead. Where's their prize?
Millions of poor families intend to make peace, but instead the government buries a deeper hole for them as they feed off their money to fuel their war machines. Where's their prize.

well, he has changed the entire world's screams of protest against the U.S.A. before, there used to be many fights over bush and the U.S.A.

In my opinoin he's a great person, and does deserve this prize, just not yet. My parents and I agree that He has made some great plans for peaceful things, but what I think was overlooked is that he hasn't actually STARTED those plans. He has done good wit the 1.4 million doalars that came with the prize. He gave it all to charities. But still, He does have some great plans to put forth but hasn't started them yet. Maybe the next time he should get it. After he's actually DONE something to put those plans to action.
I'm happy though that Canadians (Nova Scotians to be exact) Won the Nobel Science/ Physics Prize, (I forget what for though)

I think that obama is mostly talk but not enough action. For example, with the middle-east he says that he will create peace and find a way to work together (like hezbollah and hamas want to create peace) but has he actually changed anything?

He's the most powerful man on earth and he's a great guy, but he did nothing sofar to deserve a nobel peace prize. Sure he'll do great in the future, but he hasn't even been the president for a year yet!

Dream- Obama isn't a liar, he just couldn't keep his promise because of to major issues...
1. The economy- He has way too much on his hand because of this economy and is probably using a lot of his time on that.
2. Health care- Right now there are huge debates about how the health care system should work in America and focuses a lot of time on that as well.

I really hope he makes it for a second term because I don't think he can keep his promises of change if he is all focused on these other problems. Even if he doesn't do everything, I hope that he will be inspiration to the next people who become the president to continue on with his changes.

I don't think he's done anything major enough (in comparison to other hopefuls) to fully deserve it yet. I mean, Obama is awesome. One of the most charismatic President's I've seen in like..a little while. o_o But still, right now he has the unfortunately problem of having to clean up the mess left by Bush. I do believe he's going to do something major soon.
Actually, when I think about it...the war in Afghanistan was Bush's mess, but things like the Soviet invasion to aid the Marx Party and Desert Storm (they could be the same thing, I don't know like anything about desert storm, just the area and such, if I'm wrong someone please let me know o_o) which kind of prompted the actions later on. Anyway, that has like nothing to do with anything...BUT OKAY
