Ghostchild, I always seem to be disagreeing with you here. D:

If the choice was between helping the impoverished Africa, or finding space things, I'd much rather the money go to help people in Africa. The weird thing is, everyone always says that Africa is always the worst off, a lot of places in Asia, and the Middle East (which is technically Asia, but still, it's often considered separate since it has a different culture and patterns and such), anyway, but yeah. Anyway, searching for asteroids that could threaten Earth are good and all, but then we're basically acting as if we're better than those in need. It is human nature, but still, they really do need more aid in those places. I'm not 100% sure what I'm talking about and can't remember my point so I'll stop here, well...not like anyone read this far. Did they? If you read this far, I like brownies. o_o But don't put laxatives in your brownies. You don't really know when they'll hit you, you could be like sitting at the DMV in your pretty new expensive white pants, then you're all O_O...and you don't want to use their disgusting public bathrooms, because everyone goes to the DMV and that means EVERYONE. O_O I mean, some people don't seem to know the meaning of "shower." I mean really...o_o Common courtesy. Shower daily. Brush teeth. Floss. Deodorant. PLEASE, wear deodorant. I forgot what I was talking about....o_o

Boxix: Think of ALL the money that is wasted throughout a year: paying for the Iraq war ($600 billion and counting) and many other global conflicts, CEO bonuses (these are in the millions), paying celebrities and sport's stars outrageous monetary figures for being in a t.v show, movie, or sport, etc. The money IS there to help people, and anyone who says it's not is clueless. People can spend over $600 billion on a useless war, but they can't spend it on the good of humanity? And a NASA budget of over $12 billion a year (according to Wikipedia) is considered useless compared with all that?

The fact of the matter is that the money to help people is there, but we aren't using it for purposeful needs, and we're not united in the struggle.

I WANT to help people in impoverished nations, I WANT to see poverty and disease eradicated.

Pshaw Boxy, this is the WI board, some strange alternate dimension in which people actually do read all of posts. Unlike the Sitekick boards, in which people typically read the first sentence of a post and either react angrily, assume the person's quitting or say 'I didn't read your post because it was too long', depending on which seems most appropriate. :P

And all public washrooms are gross, though I've heard that women's tend to be better. o_o

Funfact: Scientists have found a planet that has water and is almost identical to Earth. They call it GJ 1214. No, it literally has water! It's actually 75% water and 25% rock or land, or whatever we're standing on.........Sure it's a bit too hot for life to exist, but WOW It's got water.

GJ 1214 doesn't seem like a good name for a new earth.......I say we call it
Draco Infinitas (Endless dragon)
MY PLANET! NO TOUCHY

Endlessdragon: You serious? A water planet similar to Earth? COOL! (Why haven't I seen that on the NASA website? Of all people to talk about it, you think that'd be like their "breaking news".) Actually, I saw this story about this planet on Yahoo.

"Draco Infinitas (Endless dragon)"?

Two words Endless: you...wish. smile

You don't have dibbs on that planet! NASA, let Ghosty name it! I'm awesome at giving reports, pictures and other things really cool names!

How about Arcadia? (If you think I got this from Halo Wars, then yes...you are right!wink or Scalene, or Rellaea, United Earth? Earth 2? Earth Junior? I'm trying!

Ghostchild, the war is a whole different thing. And the government doesn't pay celebrities. :| And also, you kind of said "As long as we're throwing money at a useless war, we might as well throw 12 billion at a space program! Big Grin" You also inferred that 12 billion is a small amount of money. :|

I don't really know where to stand here. While i don't think it's fair to call NASA useless I do find it's importance to be painfully overblown. I mean, sometimes I think we're a bit too obsessed with advancing our technology and not concerned enough about our surroundings. The problemn with NASA is they almost seem to have their heads stuck in the future and they completely neglect the present. Like maybe if we worried more about helping our situation in the present rather than paying NASA took look for a planet to replace Earth(a notion I actually find absolutely disgusting, we should care for the planet we were forgiven, and if we manage to destroy it I don't think we deserve another.) it'd make a lot more sense. why not save what we have rather than go off in ridiculous searches like those NASA runs...

I often think people are too much about the advancement of science and technology and not enough about protecting what we already have... =(

With all due respect, jchansfan

Umm… one thing in particular always comes to my mind whenever NASA is brought up. NASA spent millions of dollars to create a pen that would work in space; meanwhile, the Soviets just used a pencil… I dunno, that says a lot to me. I like space though, don’t get me wrong, doing it in physics right now. :P Umm… one thing in particular always comes to my mind whenever NASA is brought up. Ticat99: Before you bash NASA, do you even KNOW, I mean really KNOW what they've accomplished, and how it benefits every human on Earth?

No, I don't think you do.
