Well today I'm going to mention some powerful forces in the metagame:Chaos. As well as how to "de-construct" it. Actually first I'm going to analyze the deck itself then later I'll discuss ways to destroy it. This might happen for other decks as well. Anyways Chaos is a archetype that mainly focuses on the two Chaos monsters: Black Luster Soldier & Chaos Emperor Dragon. I realize how dominant cookie-cutter chaos decks run rampant in the recent metagame.
PURPOSE:It's obvious that the purpose of a Chaos deck is to bring out the envoys. The thing that makes Chaos so difficult to beat is the 38+ other cards that can win on their own. This makes Chaos da coup de grace.
STRENGTHS:Chaos decks usually don't have a theme. It's a combination of powerful cards aimed to defeat the opponent. This deck often has monsters that take advantage of the envoy summoning. This, coupled with the obscene power of the Chaos monsters, gives Chaos a high sucess rate.
WEAKNESSES:There are many ways to exploit the weaknesses of a chaos deck. Chaos decks often have bad draws since the envoys can be dead weight in your hand. Also their lack of a real theme allows properly made themed decks to take advantage of them. Third, the Emperor's effect can backfire if countered correctly. Finally preventing the means to summon the Chaos monsters= G-A-M-E.

Now I'll say a standard Traditional format Chaos deck that an expert opponent might use:
Here would be the envoys:
Chaos Emperor Dragon-Envoy of the End Black Luster Soldier-Envoy of the Beginning
Now some powerful and effective DARK monsters:
Jinzo Witch of the Black Forest Sangan Magicial Scientist Mystic Tomato Breaker the Magicial Warrior Don Zaloog
Witch/Sangan provides searching, Scientist goes for field control, Tomato to search for Zaloog, Scientist, Witch or Sangan. Don offers hand/deck disruption.
And some LIGHT monsters as well...
D.D Warrior Lady(2) Airknight Parshath Magician of Faith(2)
Magician of Faith "recycles spells", Airknight provides speed, D.D is a solid LIGHT support.
Finally staple cards...
Tribe Infecting Virus Sinister Serpent Yata-Garasu
Tribe provides great monster removal, Sinister Serpent goes against field/hand control, Yata....you know why....
Raigeki Change of Heart Dark Hole Monster Reborn Pot of Greed Graceful Charity Mystical Space Typhoon Confiscation Deliquent Duo Heavy Storm Harpie's Feather Duster The Forceful Sentry Premature Burial Snatch Steal Mirage of Nightmare Painful Choice
Chaos requires a good spell setup. Painful Choice/Mirage of Nightmare provides speed. Everything else is easy to know.
Imperial Order Mirror Force Call of the Haunted Torrential Tribute Ring of Destruction
Everything here has a good reason to add.

Don Zaloog Mystic Tomato Magicial Scientist Jinzo Witch of the Black Forest Sangan Breaker the Magicial Warrior
These would be the effective DARK monsters. Witch/Sangan provides excellent searching. Magicial Scientist works for field control, Tomato can get out most monsters. Breaker is an excellent control card, Don provides hand/deck disruption. Jinzo is MAJOR.
D.D Warrior Lady(2) Airknight Parshath Magician of Faith(2)
Here are the typical LIGHT monsters. Magician of Faith can "recycle spells", Airknight for speed, D.D Warrior Lady has great monster removal.
Raigeki Change of Heart Dark Hole Deliquent Duo Monster Reborn Harpie's Feather Duster Snatch Steal Heavy Storm Premature Burial Graceful Charity Pot of Greed Confiscaton Mystical Space Typhoon The Forceful Sentry Painful Choice Mirage of Nightmare
Chaos requires a good spell setup. Most of these cards are self-explanatory. Painful Choice & Mirage of Nightmare provides speed. The main pre-negaters can really be good against your opponent.
Imperial Order Mirror Force Call of the Haunted Torrential Tribute Ring of Destruction
The trap setup of a typical Chaos deck.
Chaos is pretty powerful. So my next articles will show ways to bring Chaos at their knees, hopefully restroing peace to Yugioh!
