get a theme but dont make all ur monsters that theme include a bit of monsters that dont go with ur theme so example if ur theme is insect and ur opponent plays insect barrier then you can summon a non-insect monster and attack! but first, what theme do you want? get a theme but dont make all ur monsters that theme include a bit of monsters that dont go with ur theme so example if ur theme is insect and ur opponent plays insect barrier then you can summon a non-insect monster and attack! but first, what theme do you want?

I'd go with a basic theme if you're still in a lower level of competitive play. Some good and easy decks to build are Warriors, Fiends, and Zombies, all of those are competitive decks that can be dirt cheap to make. Though once you get to the higher levels of play, then you might want to start branching out to deck types like Toolbox and various other types requiring a much higher understanding of the game. i find if you have a number of themes if 1 fails you still have another but for this to work you need cards like "Pot of Greed", "Jar of Greed",and "Gracefull charity" this way you can keep refreshing your hand

One theme good for beginners is water. A great combo is when you play "A Legendary Ocean", "Gravity Bind" or "Level Limit- Area B" and you summon level 4 water monsters.

Out of the topic: Does anyone play advance format and not traditional? Cause I see a lot of people with banned cards in their decks and that kind of stuff.
