Simple Plan are, and will always be, whinny/mellodramatic, Scooby Doo rockers, but hey, whatever makes you happy... :P
I find those choices are a bit ehh, but they're a good start, personally, I prefer deeper, faster, harder bands, but these are your afves, and that's cool.

all american rejects are a good choice, my fave of theirs is move along, Try Phil Collins, his songs are old fashioned and cool, try Son of a Man, and Nicklebacks: HERO, there all awesome!
