Umm little early? Lol, nevermind that. You'll be able to handle it, believe in yourself. I'm not in highschool yet, but this is what I've gathered from past visits: It's pretty much the same as Elementary/Middle/Public School; Yes, it's harder and the periods are longer but from what I've noticed it's just a bunch of teenagers. Now, I don't know what your highschool(s) are like..but that was mine wink Umm little early? Lol, nevermind that. You'll be able to handle it, believe in yourself. Honestly, highschool is no different than middle school. Except the fact there will be more people but they're all still roughly in your age catagory, all your courses will be harder, but that's the same with every grade, they all get harder xD You have nothing to worry about smile Except the risk of getting lost in the building, but the teachers will understand

No matter what anyone says, high school is a big change. I'm sure if you attended middle school it won't be as bad as if you just went elementary.

In high school you gain a tonnnn more friends; both real and fake. You'll lose a lot of people and go through a lot, but eventually you'll figure out who your true friends are.

Extra-curriculars. Easily the best thing about high school. There's so many different things to try. Honestly, you'll hear this a lot, but: get involved. You'll meet a ton of new people this way, especially ones with similar interests as your own.

You'll also have to deal with a ton of new peer pressures. They'll be a lot more smoking, drinking, drugs and sex going around. Just stay out of it. There's also a ton of drama: just don't get involved. It's stupid and pointless.

Grades. Work hard and keep them up, just as you hopefully have in the past. High grades will get you somewhere. I'm not sure if you have the semester or day system there, but things will change depending on that.

Also, don't try too hard. Don't act like you're so cool and all that jazz. Just be yourself.

Annnd, don't be afraid to ask for help. If you get lost, people will help you. Also all that "seniors will make you push pennies and put your head in the toilet" stuff is totally untrue. People are generally really nice. Just don't be an annoying niner -or whatever grade you start hs there.-

Okaaay. Well that's all I can think of right now. If you have any more questions feel free to ask, Big Grin

High schools awesome! Don't scared. I found that high school offered me so many more opertunities to try new things, meet new people, and have so much fun. Even if it's shocking at first, you'll adjust quickly. Plus, most schools know its a big change and go out of their way to help with the transition. Hope that helps! High schools awesome! You know what? Don't be worried about it whatsoever. It is a big change, but at the same time, not as big as you might be imagining it to be. Just remember, in high school, once you go with one group of friends there's an 80% chance that's who you're sticking with for the rest of your highschool life, so don't mix into the wrong crowd.

But above all, HAVE FUN! Lots of kids forget to do that these days.

don't be worried, high school is amazing wink
it is a place where you can finally determine your interests through its many extra-cirriculars, teams, clubs, etc. i know this may sound cheesy, but you will discover more about yourself...thoughts and emotions you never knew you had.
there will be a large variety of people who will share similar interests as you and, who knows? they may even become your best friends for life.

however....
be careful of those people who think they are cool just because they drink, smoke, whatever. they are stupid and you do not want to fall into that crowd.

also be careful when it comes to managing your time. high school presents more freedom, and you don't want to abuse that freedom. remember than even though there are parties, friends, clubs, etc. this is a place that is getting you ready for post-secondary education. it's a depressing thought, but it is the reality. always make time for studying and homework, or you will be praying desperately for help.

but don't spend every second studying, learn to find a balance between fun and schoolwork. even though you are growing up, you don't want to forget how to be a child on the inside. the meaning of that you will find out in due time...

anyways, if you be yourself (and don't lie) you should be fine. and don't be afraid to ask for help as eva said, high school kids are generally helpful. if not, try the guidance counsellors.

hope this helps smile

hi metagross, you shouldnt worry about high school . yu should be excited, its a lot of fun . the seniors really dont care about the niners and at my school its from grades 7-12 and the 12 graders dont bug the 7 graders . you dont even see very many at all . i was nervous this summer too because its my first year in hs since my elementry school was till grade 8 so ive never even been in middle school . its a big change but the best thing to do is to make friends, stay out of drinking, drugs, smoking, sex and drama, do extra-curriculars and things like that . Grade 9 is actually pretty easy i only have troubles with one course and its dance which is the optional courses because 9 grade dance class is really bad but anyways its depends on the person but i find grade 9 extremely easy . your gonna love being in high school Big Grin . hi metagross, you shouldnt worry about high school . yu should be excited, its a lot of fun . the seniors really dont care about the niners and at my school its from grades 7-12 and the 12 graders dont bug the 7 graders . you dont even see very many at all . i was nervous this summer too because its my first year in hs since my elementry school was till grade 8 so ive never even been in middle school . its a big change but the best thing to do is to make friends, stay out of drinking, drugs, smoking, sex and drama, do extra-curriculars and things like that . Glad the open house was a great opportunity for you to learn more about your high school! smile I've been in high school for what, 4 months now? It's a piece of cake! Big Grin Well, the courses might not be all that fun (Grade 9 Science is hard work) but you get used to it! The main things I found different from elementary and high school is that:

1. Teachers don't care if you go out of the school, eat in the cafeteria or eat in the hallways at lunch time.
2. Teachers are just as picky about homework as in elementary, warning us that "we're going to hit rock bottom by grade 11 when it gets tough" The only thing is, teachers care waaay more about you especially in grade 9 since you're starting off.
3. There are waaay more clubs/activities to get involved in, like ping pong (you seem interested in that), student council, green club, sports teams for sure, technology clubs, etc. Make sure that in your 4 years in that building, that you take advantage of everything there!

In the first few weeks of school, I thought I'd never know the whole building. I actually got lost for the first two weeks lol ... but you'll know the whole building by the first month, if you're as slow as me! x) Enjoy the last few months of elementary, where you are the big fish in the small pond, because next year you're going to be the small fish in the big pond. .__.
