_Gumper_: Yes, we're talking about foods and the deadly products stored within them.
A rebuttle anyone?

I'll rebuttle with the fact that there are a lot of "deadly" things in everything that we are simply unaware of...point is, if you go around being scared to death about every little thing that could possibly harm you, then what kind of life is that? haha Sure we should try to keep our food as un-hurtful as possible but the truth is that the world in general is corrupt, and turning a blind eye is usually a lot less harmful physically and mentally then scrutinizing every minor fault.
Idk, I don't think my rebuttle has a lot to do with this issue, but more on the fact that you're going to drive yourself into insanity unless you come to term with the fact that these things go on in the world and unless you want to make yourself sick, just accept that the world is both a beautiful and terrible place no matter how much we may try to fix it.
The world can't be perfectly peaceful...the last time someone tried to make that happen, we ended up with the deadliest 80 or so years in the history of the world haha.

ghostchild- Ask yourself why tobacco and alcohol are legal before you blast our food for being evil and pointlessly unregulated.
Also, hydrogenated margarine IS being phased out of the market. Just not instantly so producers can cope and find themselves suitable alternatives.
With all due respect, jchansfan

Jchnsfan: Is it because those products pump so much money into the economy? I'm sorry, but unlike those companies I have MORALS. If they're too dense to no that "Hey, this product is hazardous to human health, I'm not going to place it in our products", THEN TOO BAD FOR THEM! Wish I cared! Which is more important? Gross profit, or human health?
Margarine is a MAN-MADE product.
I don't know WHY you are not condeming the hazardous products that are placed in your food. It's sickening, it really is.

| QUOTE | | i'm GHOSTCHILD and i enjoy CAPITALIZING random words because i THINK it makes me seem smarter |
thread topic is walmart, not fda (an american agency)
Oh, and just to make even more of a point
Why are you using an AMERICAN (see what i did there) agency. Since we're in CANADA, this info must be irrelevant?

Roborat: Hmm, I don't remembering saying that quote, you must be thinking of another Ghostchild.
And NEWSFLASH: I use CAPITALS to EMPHAZISE what I'm TRYING to SAY. Yah HEAR me?
You know it's funny, I wish I cared. I have the manipulative nature to turn one topic into a topic that is about something quiet different. Like now. The main context of the topic is to talk about Wal-Mart, which is a company. So I added in my own thoughts and added other organizations to talk about as well. That against the law?
No, the info I found in that book is accurate. And those products in AMERICAN products could be in CANADIAN PRODUCTS. An imaginary border dividing two nations won't stop certain products from being used here you know. In some "Agent Cool Blue" product here in my house contains blue #1 or #2. Both are hazordous. Therefore, those products are used in this nation. The FDA however, govern U.S products, I'm not sure what governs us. But who knows how CANADIAN standards measure up to those of the FDA. Our products for all we know could have similar stands comparable to the U.S.

here, let me use a real quote then
ghostchild wrote:
but t[h]ose are only UNITED STATES statistics. And not those representing the entire planet.[/quotes]
surly then, if i can't use US numbers for h1n1, you shouldn't be using the american agency for your argument against... um.. well tbh i'm not sure what you're arguing for, i'm gonna say wal mart though.
Ps. it's not manipulating, most people just can't believe your views on the world.
also, off topic thread posts are also known as spam.

Roborat-
| QUOTE (jchansfan) | | You guys, the FDA isn't evil. Perhaps they are flawed, but without them, there'd probably be way worse things in AMERICAN food. I don't get why we're even discussing them. As far as I know they don't have any control whatsoever over what goes into OUR food. |
I've already pointed that out to her, she won't listen... :P

Roborat: Nice try, but that quote of mine was from the "Swine Flu" topic. HIN1, Wal-Mart? I don't see the connection.
I never said you CAN'T use United States statistics, I was just saying that if we know world deaths from the virus, instead of those from the U.S., we can get a more global view of how the virus is affecting the planet. Rather than one nation.
Why do I care about off-topic posts? How many people post unnessesary posts on blogs, websites, and even here on YTV?
Jchansfan: I already explained this too you: products that are used in the States are also used here in Canada: colored dyes, trans-fats, saturated fats, etc. Both nations will have different laws governing what goes into our food, but many of the same products are used here as well.
And besides, I'm a cynic remember? Someone has to be.

One thing Walmart and the FDA do have in common is the way they are both kinda things we're told to hate... You hear a lot of critisism towards both, and I think some people hate them, especially Walmart, without really understanding why, they justy do because everyone tells them they should... =/
