CrimsonAlex, that's pretty cool that you are interested in GreenScreen-BlueScreen effects!
I am new to the process, but I have sucessfully made my computer room into a spaceship wtih greenscreens :P
I personally do it with a program called Adobe After Effects CS3. It's a VERY expensive program though. You need high-tech software with the ability of Colour Keying (AKA Keylight 1.2).
The reason it's a greenscreen, is since it's a colour that you don't see on many things, you can easily select it, and remove it, underlaying it would be another type of movie, to give you a cool effect.
If you want to learn more about these, I reccomend watching Special Features from CloverField, The Water Horse, and several other videos with monsters or amazing effects in them.

MM after effects looks amazing! I've seen videos when ppl use it. I'd buy it if i could! do u know how to do the invisibility cloak effect? like in Harry Potter
