What ever happened to rap nowadays? Tupac(rip), BIG(rip), Snoop, Ice t, 50 cent, luda, Chamilionare. Those are rappers. That is Rap. Not some dance. soulja is a disgrace to rap.

i agree but u forgot DMX man lol . well i don't think he disgraces rap he just doesn't rap as good i mean no he isn't the best but there are some way worse rappers

50 cent should stay off the list.his music is soft now.the money got to his brain & he kicked young buck out of g-unit.hey you forgot young buck on that list.and kanye west.and eminem.and d12.and obie trice.and young jeezy.and t.i.anyway soulja voy is a horible rapper that does it for money & makes EVEN THAT SOUND BAD.and he cant dis @ all.(yes ppl thatz right soulja boy has a song for all of u who thinks his music sucks which is like a curse on the hip hop industry.myspacce is probably crying in a corner somewhere right now wondering:WHAT HAVE I CREATED?OMG!

I totally agree with the whole 'Soulja Boi disgraces rap thing' (If you can even call him a rapper)...It's sad. D:
But, the fact that you said that 50 cent and Snoop Dogg are good rappers, I completely disagree with. 50 cent and Snoop Dogg rap about nothing more than women, and other explicit subjects - ALL THE TIME. As far as I'm concerned, they have no right calling themselves rappers or 'artists' if all they can talk about is nonsense.

Soulja Boy is a poser. It was cool when Crank That came out, but now when it comes on the radio, everyone's ears blow to pieces. I think the Pop, Rap, and Hip-Hop that Akon does is good. In conclusion, Akon is way better then soulja boy.

Ah. Good. I'm so glad that SOME people (like you allXD) have brilliant minds and could look at the state rap is in nowadays. Alot of people don't listen to me because they love Soulja Boy and don't understand what he's doing to rap.
Rap is in the hospital almost near death. If they get treatment, by means of Nas, more Tupac, more BIG, more Eminem, more D12, DMX, then rap's life shall be saved. If more junk, like 50 cent and Akon and Soulja Boy and whatever comes into rap's already severely damaged immune system, then rap's a goner. We want rap to last as long as it can, right? With real meaningful poetry, from the heart and soul, right? I hope that Nas, at least, can save it.

I love Nas. 8D He's one of my favorite rappers. But you really have to look at the audiences these days. The mainstream audiences don't really seem to have interest in 'good' rap/Hip-hop these days (Proof in the 80% success of junk). All they seem to care about is whether the song is catchy or not and has a good beat. Not to say that isn't important, but it shouldn't be the foundation. To which causes a whole lot of misconceptions with other people who say the rap genre is garbage. D:
Bottom line, it'll take a miracle to get back the real stuff. =/

hez not exactly helping hip hop though.....itz worse than k-fed rapping...now that was bad.nas is most likely retired & after hooking up with kelis he seems to have fallen off.DMx is fighting dog fighting charges(most likely) & pac is dead. eminem is focusing on raising his family.50 cent went soft because of the money. the games said to be retiring. & lil waynez on & off. so whatz left? we got young buck,fat joe, snoop dog, obie trice,etc. doesnt look too good for rap. & blame myspace for creating soulja boy.

It may not be looking all to bright, we've got a lot of good rappers (That are apparently all underground D: ), but they aren't quite as popular as the junk that is 'in' right now.
