Mhmm so my deffinition of overated is a show that's popular and a lot of people know it and like it, but it really doesn't deserve the attention and isn't as great as everyone says. You might think overated as something a little different but going by my deffinition what animes do you think deserve the title overated.
And ofcourse this is all based on oppinion and nothing more, it is not by any means actual facts.
Shows that are in my oppinion overated, and I give a reason for each, as should you.
Naruto- I'm not saying I don't watch it, it's a good anime, just not the best, and that's what I keep hearing from everyone, that it's the best. The first few episodes are very boring, and the real action doesn't start until later in the series. The fighting scenes are ok, just ok. We never get to see much of the other characters, everything seems to be focused on naruto and his training.
Inu-yasha- One main villian that doesn't even really do anything through the entire series, one average girl that can't stop screaming " Inu-yashaaa!" and a lot of cliche anime sterotypes, no thanks, good for a first timer anime, but after that you should move on to better things..Inu-yasha is loved by many but I don't think it deserves this much love.
FMA- Now this one I like but again I hear everyone say it's the best anime in the world, which again it isn't, it may be the best anime they have seen so far, but considering it doesn't quite follow the actual manga story and the plot holes are so big I could fit my house in it....But I can see how if people don't see those things or don't read the manga it can be a nice anime. Not all it's hyped up to be.
That said I respect all three of these shows. But there are hundreds of amazing animes out there, that aren't as popular because people cling on too these 3 and reject all else.
I said a lot..I hope this gets posted, and I hope you guys can take this and try out some other animes, if you havn't already.
Tip-tip*.*

ok I'll agree w/ everything you said but:
<<Quote>>FMA- Now this one I like but again I hear everyone say it's the best anime in the world, which again it isn't, it may be the best anime they have seen so far, but considering it doesn't quite follow the actual manga story and the plot holes are so big I could fit my house in it....But I can see how if people don't see those things or don't read the manga it can be a nice anime. FMA is not overrated... its a short series ( come on.. 51 eps is short compared to those REAL overrated shounen flicks) and it doesn't try to milk out the ebst it can which those goofy merchandises and TCGs... welll sorta... FMA was a great series that had character development, plot, action, great soudtrack all packed in 51 episodes... what other "overrated" shounen series have that? ( I'm focusing ont he overrated SHOUNEN series BTW), all Naruto Bleach and Bakayasha have are filelrs.... some w/ even 51 eps+ of fillers... ( Naruto *cough*......Shipuuden ish still messed w/ fillers anywayz) so why watch that when you can actually get something by watching FMA.... >.<
*BTW... why so limited to TV anime?.. tink about it... there's so much other anime series at there that's overrated... and it's not even out on canadian.american TV yet! ( namely Haruhi suzumiya... it's an awesome series.. but apparently.. many ppl ahve considered it as "overrated" .- SOrry if i went offtopic... Just wanted to widen the anime horizon ^^

Inuyasha is a bit over rated, as well as Naruto. Not that they're bad but... yeah.
And Neon Genesis Evangelion. One of my favourites, yet overrated.

It's so true that Kagome's always yelling, "Inu-Yasha!" It's really annoying! >_> And Inu-Yasha swears too much that it's lame. Come on, where's the substance?
Naruto. I don't like it that much (it's better than Inu-Yasha though). I don't get why a lot of people are crazy about it; what's there to hype about?

heeyyy, its not overhyped if it's as good as they say =0 FMA is not really overrated, it lives up to what people say about it.
INUYASHA IS INSANELY OVERRATED! i hear kids in my school always screaming 'oNGz backlash waaaiiivvveee!' and playing with their tetsusaiga's. Inuyasha is overly tedious, and doesn't live up to its 'omg, its better then what you watch' standards. INUBAKA. hahahlolol.
NARUTO TOO! I like Naruto, i admit, but its overhyped as well. its not the best anime ever.
i think that overrated shows are ones that dont live up to their 'quality assured' standards. i dont think that a long show is overrated (tho it can be if it recycles its episodes), if it needs a lot of episodes to tell a GOOD story, let it.
the quality of the story and the artwork should remain consistent throughout. That is what makes a good anime, a good anime.
OVERRATED SHOWS CAN BE GOOD. but as i saaiid, if an anime is ohkay, call it ohkay, dont call it the greatest anime evvverrrr.
Thats just what i think, tho.
