Prologue
Two people, a man and a woman, were sitting on the ground (in the wet, soft snow) at 11:00 pm. “Do you really think it’s time?” the woman asked, “Or have we already meddled too much?” “I’m not sure,” he answered, “But we shouldn’t try to interfere anymore. They’re beginning to show some progress. Let them figure it out themselves.” “But it’s already beginning, and they haven’t shown any sign of it yet.” “If you knew, would you tell anyone?” She hung her head. “No...” “They know. Trust them for once.” “Alright, but I’m not sure...” “Trust them.” “Moving on,” she said, “You need to make sure they receive these, for I am sure my end is soon,” indicating the pile of objects next to them. There was a small wooden carving, shaped like a poppy made of poppies, made of poppies, made of poppies, and so on. Among this strange, yet delicate carving, there were a number of other objects; a fully functional tiny device (similar to the laptops you see around these days) barely bigger than a hand, a large empty jar, a teeny tiny box full of grain, and a large rock of some sort. There were also 5 strange hieroglyphics, each carved on a sphere as round as the world itself. There was one carved on earth, one carved on a smooth sapphire rock; representing water, one carved on a ragged gray and white swirled rock; representing wind, and the final one carved on a bright flame red rock; representing fire, and the last, and strangest, was a lion carved on a glossy multicolor rock; red, gray, blue, and green-brown. Over head, an enormous murder of crows were swooping by, circling the forest. At the stroke of midnight on December 31, 999, New Years Eve, it begun.

Chapter One
The Beginning
Honolulu, O’ahu, Hawai’i
Friday November 13, Year 1998
Chris awoke in the middle of the night, finding his face still wet with tears. UGH! he thought. I HATE MY LIFE! WHY ME?! WHY?! He could still hear his parents screaming at each other, even this late. Yawning, he realized it was snowing outside, the first time this winter. Struggling to his feet, he stumbled into the kitchen for a snack. e grabbed a banana and started to eat. Suddenly, he heard a voice. “Come...” it whispered, as if carried along by the wind, “Come to me...”
He listened again. Nothing. It must have just been my imagination, he thought. He went back to bed.
After breakfast, he heard it again, clearer than before. “Come...please, come...”
The divorce contract was signed the next day. The moment it was signed, he heard it again, ringing loud and clear in his ears. “Come, please, you have to come...”
“Who are you?!” Chris answered, “And what do you want?”
“Come....come..please....”
“...But I can’t,” replied Chris, “If I don’t know who and where you are. How am I supposed to get there?”
“All I need...is for you to just say you’ll come...just say you’ll come to me...please...”
“Alright, I’ll go. Like I have anything better to do.”
Suddenly, he felt like he was being plunged into the sea. The breath knocked out of his lungs, he struggled to surface. Flailing, he finally made it to air and breathed. Where am I? he wondered. He heard the voice again, louder and clearer.
“HELLOOOO!”

Chris looked around. “Where am I, and who are you?” he asked suspiciously. “You are in the ocean, on the other side of the island. I am Ikili, the town healer’s apprentice.” Chris looked around yet again. “I’m Chris. Where are you?” “Look up, look down, look all around,” Ikili mused. Chris smirked. Seeing nothing, he returned to his original spot. There, in front of him, was a girl that looked to be about 12, the same age as him. She had light brown hair, hazel eyes, and was quite slim. “H-hi,” he stammered, “What am I here for?” “Follow me,” she answered. Ikili led him into town, stopping at the door of a little building, a shop of some sort. “This is where I work. Come in, please.” As he stepped into the little store, a pungent scent hit him. Looking around, he saw herbs and medicine of all sorts, as well as a rack of dried meat in the back. At the counter sat a middle-aged man who was reading what seemed to be a manual. Beside him were a number of books. He read a few titles; ‘Remedies and Their Uses’, ‘How to Cook a Potion’, and ‘Healing; First Steps’. Ikili gestured to the man. “This is my boss, Ray.” Ray didn’t look up, eyes still fixed on the book. “He’s always trying to find a new cure for something,” she laughed. “So, what did you need me for?” he pondered. “Oh, right. Come into the back, I’ll show you.” Ikili led him into a room stacked with boxes, and smelling of spice and something rotten. She walked to a box, picked it up and set it on the table. She opened the box and took out what seemed to be a jar of some kind of pickled vegetable. “Um...what does that have to do with me?” he asked. Ikili laughed. “Not this, I was just taking it out.” She reached in and grabbed a bunch of containers with the same stuff in them, and then finally she reached down the bottom and pulled out a large, jagged fire red stone. Etched into it was a strange symbol.

Chris stared at it in awe. “What is it?” he whispered. Ikili looked at him, with a blank look, as if she were looking right through him, staring into space. Her body melted into the shape of a lion, but not solid; made of tiny particles, almost like dust. When she finally spoke, it was in another voice, rasping with age, and yet booming at the same time. “Every thousand years, there comes a day, a day when anything is possible, and nothing is possible. This day happens on the 31st of December. The Earth will unleash the power of The Lion, bringing with it, The Elements. The world will self-destruct, if not properly stopped.” she paused, closed her eyes as if sleeping. Then, with a start, she opened them again. “4 Elements, 4 Sipokli. The Sipokli will fight The Elements, defending the world. When The Elements are defeated, each Sipok will become their element, the one they fought with before, the one that they are.” Again, she closed and opened her eyes. “1 Lion, 1 Sipokoam. The Sipokoam will guide the Sipokli, will be their leader. He or she will defeat the Lion, only to become the Lion after it has been defeated.” She closed her eyes again. Chris recalled all that had been said, trying to understand it. His brain whirling with thoughts, he barely noticed Ikili getting up. Ikili shivered. “It spoke through me...it chose me...it chose me,” she stuttered. “The Lion chose me!” she exclaimed. “Sipokoam...Sipokoam...such an honor....” She stood motionless, staring at Chris. “And you...could you...could you... hear him speak through me?” Chris nodded slowly. “It chose you too! This is a big responsibility. We must not abuse it; we must respect it.” She blinked. “There are two others that heard him speak, where they are, I do not know. They heard it, and soon they will reveal themselves.” Chris shook his head. “This is happening all too fast....” “I agree,” she replied, “Let’s turn in for the night, and recollect our info tomorrow.”

Is no one going to comment?
There's really no point in doing this if no one's gonna read it.

Chapter Two The Others
Cairo, Egypt Friday November 13, 1998
The sun’s rays bore down hot and bright on Jilo’s shoulders. Cautiously, he stepped forward toward the statue of Tutankhamen and, reaching its feet, bowed. Nothing happened. The rumor about this was wrong, he thought, King Tut will never come back. Suddenly, the statue began to shake. Its shiny exterior coat of gold melted into the shape of a lion, particle by particle. It spoke, the very same words that it did in Honolulu, the same, ancient words it says every millenium When The Lion finished, a picture flashed in Jilo’s mind, a boy and a girl, about the same age as he was. The boy had dark brown hair, freckles and light brown eyes. The girl had long, light brown hair and hazel eyes. Suddenly, he felt like he was flying. He couldn’t see, everything around him was white. When he could see, what he saw was amazing, a once-in-a-lifetime view. A panoramic view of south O’ahu, Hawaii, was looming before him. However, there were some issues, among the wonderful view. He was plummeting towards the earth at 25 kph, with no parachute. The moon was at its height; it was dark, and he couldn’t see.He spread his arms and legs out, carefully distributing his weight. He made himself parallel to the ground, now only about 4 or 5 kilometres up in the air. Accelerating at a dangerous rate, he braced himself for the impact. But he felt nothing, for he became unconscious.

He awoke, a day later, to the sound of his ears buzzing from the hit. He examined his surroundings. He was in a medicine hut, and judging by the sun, it was midday. There was a man leaning over him. Suddenly, the man shouted, “He’s awake! He’s awake! Come quickly!” Two children, a girl and a boy, came to the scene. The girl smiled at the boy. “And another comes.” Jilo did not know what to make of this. Did she know I was coming? He pondered. How could that be possible? Wait a minute.... His mind flashed back to before the accident. A boy with dark brown hair, freckles, light brown eyes.... A girl with light brown hair, hazel eyes.... It’s them.... The man motioned to the girl. “Ikili, bring me the gauze and the poultice.” She did so, and the man began smearing the pulp on his wounds, and then wrapped the gauze around. After a while, the pain in his legs began to ease. Jilo had broken his arm, and there were many bruises on his back and legs. The man bandaged Jilo’s arm, and then put it in a sling. “You go rest now, ok?” The man said, in rough English. Jilo guessed he was a native man, so English wasn’t his primary language.
