THE SECOND GREAT FIGHT FOR CANADA

Prologue

In the year of 1981, the separated sides of the West Canadian independents and East Canada were at war against each other. Both had contrasting types of government--one side had democratic republics, the other being an authoritarian/totalitarian government. Tens of thousands of soldiers and civilians gave their lives to protect and defend their nations against one another. However, by the end of 1981, the allianced West Canadian independent states gained the upper hand. Slowly, control was regained over the East Canadian states, as the West Canadian armies pushed forward.

Finally, the brutal regime of Josef Arminzarev was overthrown--toppled onto the hard ground of justice. The West Canadian soldiers had made a great assault on the Parliament buildings that housed the late dictator. The war was over after almost two long years, and everybody had celebrated in triumph over adversity and hardships. One and a half year later, the Reunified Canada Treaty was signed by both sides, prompting Canada to be back in one again--free and independent. For the next several years, Canada underwent both a population and economic boom as the newly-independent nation was restructured after the war.

However, after several years, the shadows of chaos were starting to form again...

"We have breaking news! A bomb has exploded outside of a government building--"

"Trouble in the streets! Riots have happened in the Eastern parts of the nation--

"The whole country is in crisis after a number of government officials have been assassinated--"

"This just in! The leader of the nation is dead in an assasssination plot--"

"A growing extremist group is calling themselves the giant figure of anti-democracy..."

Prologue (Continued)

What took seven years to reconstructure and strengthen had ended up being pryed apart by the new dark hands of antagonism and disorder. In the latter-year of 1990, newly-formed extremist groups strongly against the reformed democracy of the nation had split the country in two again by force. Hundreds of thousands of people perished in the biggest split since the late 1970s. The fascist and nationalist militias slowly pushed west-ward towards the Pacific, but were cut short by the provisional government's military at the middle of Ontario.

It was then that Canada had been--for a second time, divided between two sides that drew parallels to what had happened in the late-'70s to the early-'80s. This time, instead of independent states in the West, they became united under one nation called West Canada. They were now against the nationalist-controlled East, determined to conquer the rest of the nation. Border clashes began a few months after the split, where they happened on an intermittent basis. This continued all the way until early-1991, when an event known as the "Abitibi River Incident" had happened.

As a result, war was declared first by the fascist East Canada, which West Canada soon followed with their own declaration. And so began the civil war no one wanted to happen, no one wanted to be fought in, and no one wanted it to risk their lives in...The Second Great Fight for Canada.

NOTE: This story will be told from the perspectives of three different soldiers--one of which will be involved in this chapter.

Chapter One- Welcome to B-Company

November 1990

Two light-duty helicopters in shades of green and bearing the Western Canadian Forces symbols touched down at a military base somewhere in British Columbia. On board in one of the helicopters, is a man who was transferred from another military base in the same province. As soon as the door opened, the man in his battle uniform and helmet exited the aircraft and met with three men, who had arrived at the base a few hours earlier.

The brunette man approaches another man dressed in the same camoflauged battle uniform but had a field cap on.

"Private Dennis Harrington, reporting for duty sir!" the man with the helmet said.

The man with the field cap disregarded with a gesture, giving him a slight look of disbelief in his eyes.

"Are you sure you're in the right group?" the man with the field cap asked.

While the two other men were having a conversation in the background, Dennis replied with a question.

"This is the B-Company, right?"

"Yep, you got it." the man answered, before he continued. "But you can get rid of that 'sir, yes, sir' and all that stuff. I'm a sergeant, not the leader of this nation!"

"Okay..." Dennis then spoke. "Sorry, sir! I mean, sorry sergeant." he apologized.

"Yeah, whatever." the man said.

Chapter One- Welcome to B-Company (Continued)

The man in the field cap then introduced the two other soldiers in the squad to Dennis.

"This here is Salterlake." the man in the field cap introduced Dennis to one of the two men, wearing slightly-thick rimmed glasses.

Dennis and the B-Company soldier shook hands and exchanged a greet of "Hello" to each other.

"And this here is Bradbury." the man in the field cap also introuced the private to the other man, who wore a wool cap on his head.

"Nice to meet to you there, friend." the man with the beige wool cap spoke in a slightly gruff voice. "You dress very nicely, eh." he remarked.

"And you can call me Haldersman." the man in the camoflauged field cap introduced himself. "But what can I say? We're all in this mess together."

"Right, sarge." Dennis replied, then paused for a moment. "So, what part I'm taking in?"

The three others didn't answer as they walked over to a pickup transport truck.

"Guys?" Dennis then asked. "...Sarge?"

Finally, one of them--the leader of the group--spoke "You can ride in the truck with us" but not before remarking the words, "new guy".

Dennis paused, standing there for a moment repeating the last two words in a questioned confusion before saying "okay". He then proceeded to the transport truck, riding in the back of the military light truck with the three men off into the distance.

Chapter Two- Crossfire

March 1991

Dennis, Salterlake, Bradbury, and their group leader arrived somewhere in Kapuskasing, which happened to be a border town close to the greatly-built border between West Ontario and East Ontario. Since the provisional government had acted enough to quell the Nationalist guerillas from spreading up north of the province, Ontario was physically separated in two sides--one controlled by the Western Canadian government, and one controlled by the far-right Nationalists. The border had stretched from south-westward all the way to Michipicoten Island on Lake Superior, and from north-eastward all the way closely to the tip of the border between West Ontario and Quebec (which was taken by the Nationalists), just below Charlton Island.

The four soldiers got off the military light truck and gathered as a group rushing over to one of the large neighbourhoods under attack by the Nationalist guerillas. Other squads and troops of the West-CAN Forces were called in as well, but the B-Company squad were the first ones to respond. Dennis and his squad rushed over to a side of a house near where the enemies were attacking. The leader, Haldersman, signalled Dennis and Salterlake to diverge over to another house on the opposite side of the road. Both then took their places and rushed forward without being noticed.

Dennis and Salterlake, arms in hands, hid between a rusted-out truck that was falling apart on a lawn.

"Harrington, maintain visual contact on the targets." Haldersman said over the radio.

Dennis then got out his binoculars and zoomed in. He saw six or seven people throwing flammable bottles of liquid into the houses fifty yards away.

"Sergeant, there are seven of them throwing incendiary weapons at the houses." Dennis spoke over the radio communications.

"Sounds like they're tryin' to get somewhere with arson." Bradbury whispered.

Chapter Two- Crossfire (Continued)

"Alright." Haldersman confirmed. "Squad, take positions and prepare to fire. Salterlake, sneak to the vacant house on your left and take your spot point. Bradbury, flank over on the left side of the road far and flush 'em out. Harrington, on me!"

The four B-Company soldiers then broke off to their assigned positions. Salterlake sneaked off to the grey house twenty yards away, without being noticed. He then opened the back door quietly without making a sound, and rushed to the top floor of the house. Meanwhile, Bradbury passes by Salterlake and strafes slowly and closely to the enemy targets.

Dennis and Haldersman rushed over on the right side of the road, behind the houses. They then stopped behind the house close to the targets, and moved slowly towards the side of the house. As they got close to the edge, they both turn to their right and see the rest of the houses burning as well as the Nationalist soldiers. Haldersman then notices Bradbury across the road, at the end of the far side of the house, crouching and waiting. He then notices Salterlake at the grey house several yards away, with sniper rifle out the broken window.

He then signalled to both the marksman and the other soldier to prepare to attack.

Chapter Two- Crossfire (Conclusion)

"3...2...1. GO! GO! GO!" Haldersman yelled over communications, as Dennis and him rushed out from the side of the house, semi-automatic rifles prepared.

Haldersman opened fire on the startled militants while Dennis slid over and fired at his left, taking cover behind a burnt-up vehicle.

Both took down three Nationalist soldiers, despite the danger of fire in the area. As they took out the three at the front, Bradbury rushed from the side of the house across the road and flanked them. Another two enemy soldiers had fallen from his maneuver. The remaining two perpretrators, now being outnumbered four-to-two, cowered and tried to retreat, running off into the woods. However, Salterlake eliminated both retreating soldiers by the scope of his long-range sniper rifle.

"All tangoes are down! I repeat, all tangoes are down in this sector, over!" Haldersman gave his situation report over the West-CAN Forces communications. "Nice shooting, Denny and Bradbury." he then complimented the two.

"Thanks, sarge." Dennis said.

Suddenly, one of the houses that caught on fire had exploded from the top floor. The house then began to gave way from its foundation, about to collapse on the three soldiers.

Haldersman cursed. "Let's get outta here!" he shouted loudly.

Dennis, Bradbury, and him took off running from the collapsing house, and made themselves out of there alive before the burning house slammed into the concrete ground, bursting into flames and spewing deadly shrapanel.

As the flames burnt on at the end of the road, Haldersman took out his radio device.

"This is Sgt. Haldersman, requesting clean-up over at the...uhm...burnt-down site of attack in Kapuskasing, over."

Chapter Three- Under Siege

March 1991- Day 2
Pvt. Dennis Harrington
333rd Land Forces Battalion
Timmins, West Ontario

The helicopter that was carrying the group of four soldiers had approached the small city of Timmins, some kilometres away from the border that separated West Canada and East Canada. The city was under attack by the dangerously-surging East Canadian soldiers that had breached the perimeters of the border. While the superiors of the West-CAN Forces had thought about sending in the top two brigades to quell the surging troops, they had sent the lowest-ranked brigade instead. The chopper landed somewhere on the plain fields outside the inner core of the city.

There, the 333rd L.F. Battalion stepped out of the chopper and onto the soft grass where they looked around and saw the smoke billowing out from the skyline of the city, just kilometres and kilometres away. After the chopper took off and left, the four soldiers then began to rush all the way to the seemingly-empty road that leads to the central part of Timmins. As soon as they got there, Sgt. Haldersman spotted two soldiers with their A.P.C. parked on the side of the road. They were dressed in East Canadian military uniform, and were relaxing as they watched their fellow comrades wreak havoc in the far distance.

The Sarge then signalled to Harrington, Salterlake, and Bradbury to get down and sneak quietly on them. They then crouched and crept onto the two soldiers from behind without making a sound. Without warning, the two East Canadian soldiers were then attacked from behind, silenced by the B-Company. After taking them away to somewhere in the plain fields, the four soldiers then took control of the vehicle they got out of. Sgt. Haldersman was on the mounted gun, as Harrington drove to the downtown streets, still under attack.

Chapter Three- Under Siege (Continued)

The A.P.C. arrived at a section of the downtown core, code-named as the "First Sector" by the West Canadian Land Forces. The downtown core was divided into four sectors, three of them heavily under fire from the East Canadians. Bradbury on the mounted gun of the A.P.C. spotted a group of East Canada soldiers taking positions in front of him.

"I spot some Easties here!" Bradbury shouted in his thick Texan-like voice as he began firing at a few soldiers rushing from a building on his left.

Bullets flew and soldiers on foot went down as the B-Company soldier took down seven men with the A.P.C.'s mounted rifle. The vehicle narrowly missed a rocket launched from an East Canadian trooper armed with the launcher. Bradbury kept firing at the remaining enemy soldiers, as the A.P.C. rolled to a stop at an alleyway. The B-Company squad rushed out the armoured vehicle in an instant, and out the alleyway.

Braving the enemy fire being returned, Dennis got out his grenade-launching attachment on his semi-automatic rifle and fired a grenade in the air. It took out the soldier manning the mounted machine gun on the sandtraps. The five East Canadian soldiers scrambled and took positions again, firing at the four soldiers. Salterlake and Bradbury took cover behind a barricade of military light trucks as Dennis threw a grenade from behind a tipped-over car. Another soldier was taken out by the thrown grenade.

Haldersman got out from his cover and began to fire at the enemy soldiers who then got out of their own cover. The soldiers went down quickly.

"Sarge? Is the First Sector cleared?" Salterlake asked, when he suddenly heard a loud rumbling noise from somewhere.

The ground began to shake with more intensity, as the group of four saw an East Canadian tank coming from a street. Its cannon slowly pointed at their direction.

Chapter Three- Under Siege (Conclusion)

"Incoming!" screamed Sgt. Haldersman.

A projectile was fired from the tank's cannon, hurdling towards the four soldiers. The four men scrambled quickly before the zooming missile slammed into a side of a building. The mounted gun on the tank began to aim and fire at each soldier, who was taking cover from it.

"Squad!" yelled out the Sergeant over the communicator. "We need to take down that tank, fast!"

"Can't seem to find an explosive launcher or somethin'!" remarked Bradbury in response.

Dennis, crouching from behind a concrete barrier, looked around from the corner to find something to destroy the huge hunk-of-metal in their path. He then spotted a rocket launcher on the ground that was dropped by a fallen enemy soldier. As he glanced at the tank trying to find the other men along with the mounted gunner, he took the opportunity from the distracted enemies. With no time to lose, Dennis got out from the concrete barrier and sprinted towards the anti-tank missile launcher. As the cannon and mounted gun of the tank turned slowly towards Dennis, he lifted the launcher from the ground and fired a rocket at the tank.

The rocket hurtled straight into the cannon's opening, causing the whole tank to burst in flames and spewing debris in the air. Dennis dropped the launcher onto the ground, as the whole squad regrouped.

"Nice work on the tank, Denny." Sgt. Haldersman told him before contacting the dispatch. "Mike-One-Christy, we have secured the First Sector, over."

"Bravo-One-Charlie, proceed to the Second Sector and wipe out any tangoes over there. Over and out."

"Roger that." The Sarge replied. "Squad, we gonna proceed further north of the core and wipe 'em all out there."

Chapter Four- Rapid Fire

Salterlake groaned. "Man, how many more of these guys we gotta take out?"

"Now there, Salts." Bradbury responded back. "If we ever re-claim this city from them, we're gonna come back home soon enough."

"Bradbury's got a point there." The Sarge added. "Now, everybody let's move out into the Second Sector!"

The squad of four then rushed northward of the downtown sector where the buildings became taller and taller as they ran farther and farther. As they slowed and crouched behind concrete barriers separating the street, they peeked their heads slightly above the barriers to glance a sight on East-Canadian armoured personnel, arming themselves and patrolling the streets casually. The four soldiers then found their way through an alley and made their way to another street that was unblocked.

There, Salterlake spotted a six-story office building close to him, with the door unlocked. Sgt. Haldersman signalled to the squad as Salterlake snuck through the door of the building quietly, while the other three took their positions. As soon as the enemy APCs and other armoured vehicles passed by, Dennis and Bradbury were on different sides of the street, opposite to one another.

Dennis then took out his Tracer Dart Gun, and shot a flashing dart at the back of the moving enemy APC. The Sarge and Bradbury were on the same sidewalk, crouched and strafed to the fort constructed out of sandbags. While Salterlake was at the top floor of the building with his sniper rifle out the open window, Bradbury diverted away from the Sarge and got out his rocket launcher.

Chapter Four- Rapid Fire (Continued)

"Look out for any West Canadian troops on the rush." an East Canadian soldier communicated over the radio as they marched slowly through the streets.

As soon as the convoy of APCs and soldiers made their way into the middle of an intersection, a rocket zoomed in from behind and took out one armoured personal carrier into smouldering scrap metal. Sergeant Haldersman and Dennis then rushed off from their positions and fired at the foot soldiers. Four of them were taken down, as the remaining seven scrambled to take cover and fire back. One-by-one, the enemy soldiers were picked off by Salterlake in the top story of the building a kilometre away.

Another APC exploded into pieces as Bradbury fired another round from his anti-tank launcher. One of the still-operational APCs began to fire its primary cannon at Bradbury, as he quickly dodged its line of fire. Dennis, with fast agility, snuck up behind the firing armoured vehicle and armed a C4 charge on its back. As soon as the turret spotted Dennis running away, he slams the trigger causing the vehicle to explode instantly.

All of the convoy had been destroyed in no less than ten minutes, as the four B-Company soldiers regrouped on the spot.

"Mike-One-Christy, we have taken the Second Sector away from the hands of the Easties, over." Sgt. Haldersman communicated.

"Bravo-One-Charlie, you're not even close. We have detected an enemy--" a burst of static noise interrupted, cutting off the dispatcher.

"Repeat that again." Haldersman commanded.

Suddenly without warning, an attack helicopter belonging to the enemy forces swooped in from their direction. It made a rotating turn before it began to face the four on the ground.

"Ah, cripes! An enemy helo!" Bradbury exclaimed.

Chapter Four- Rapid Fire (Continued)

"Watch out!" bellowed out Haldersman.

The attack chopper began to fire its machine rifle mounted underneath the nose of the aircraft. The four members of B-Company ducked and dodged every bullet being fired at the ground from above, as they scrambled and rushed for cover. The four men hid at each and every corner of the alleyways, causing the chopper to swoop down and hover back around to attempt and find them. As the pilots of the chopper began to locate the men on the ground through their infrared camera screen, they began firing at them and narrowly missing them. The four soldiers ran out from their breached cover, as Salterlake and Bradbury began to fire back at the helicopter.

Still out in the open, Haldersman spotted an empty nest located at the fifth floor of a building metres away from him; it had a mounted anti-tank rocket launcher. He started to have an idea.

"Harrington! Take up that empty nest over there! It has a stationary TOW there--we'll cover you!"

Dennis nodded and began to sprint away from the rest of the group. The enemy chopper began to fire its mounted gun at Dennis, as he made his way to the entrance of the building. The Seargent, Bradbury, and Salterlake began firing at the attacking aircraft. One of the bullets flew and struck the glass shielding the pilots, causing them to focus at the three men instead. While the helicopter fired at the dispersing soldiers, Dennis made his way up to the unoccupied nest and started targeting at the flying menace.

Without a tiny hitch, he fired a rocket straight at the middle-section of the helicopter. Instantly, the chopper went down, slamming right into a two-storey building before it exploded into bits of pieces. Dennis then made his way down to the regrouping members of his squad.

"Nice work there, Pvt." The Sarge commended him. "Mike-One-Christy, we have taken down an enemy helo, over."

Chapter Four- Rapid Fire (Continued)

"Great work, Bravo-One-Charlie." the dispatcher responded. "Sorry for the breaking-off, but we seem to have interference in the radio frequency. There seems to be signal jammers located within the Third Sector of the city."

"Copy that. We'll take down those jammers right away." Haldersman replied. "Squad! We're making our way to the Third Sector; there are radio jammers somewhere in that sector. Let's move!"

"Gee, after we take down the jammers and make our way to the final sector, THEN we get to be off right?" Salterlake asked whilst travelling on foot.

"Take it easy, Salts. We don't get back to home without capturing the whole city from those guys over on the other side!" remarked Bradbury.

"I still think things aren't gonna look as good as it gets!" Salterlake responded.

"Well, look at it this way--on one hand, we get to go back early if we can take the whole town to ourselves; and if things go wrong...well, we wouldn't want to be in a sticky situation now, wouldn't we?"

Salterlake replied after a brief pause. "Yeah, I guess so..."

As the squad made its way into the second-last sector of Timmins, the Sarge followed by his teammates quickly got themselves into cover behind a wall of scrapped sheet metal. One of the squad members peeked out from above and noticed the five blinking red strobes on top of the five metal poles. These five blinking poles were placed on top of multi-story buildings. On the ground, were a whole regiment of East-Canadian soldiers guarding and patrolling around the perimeter of the buildings. There weren't any heavy armour such as tanks or APCs in the whole mix, so that gave the four-man squad a huge advantage.

"Alright, so how are we going to this?" Sgt. Haldersman questioned his crew.

"I think I have an idea!" Bradbury whispered loudly.

Chapter Four- Rapid Fire (Continued)

Bradbury took out a bulky device that was rectangular-prism shaped, with a 7-centimetre long antenna on top of it. The front of the device had a small speaker at the top, a thin primitive red LED display below the speaker, and below the screen were a row of buttons found on an old cellphone.

"I snuck this off from some officer some hours before we got here." He grinned.

"What the heck? Is that an artillery-strike remote?!" Sgt. Haldersman asked sharply.

"Wait--why did you steal that?" Salterlake also asked incredulously.

"Oh, I know that the artillery guns would be stationed somewhere about 50 kilometres west of Timmins." Bradbury explained.

"Well, shoot. I was about to make a plan on how we can destroy those transmitters and take all those guys down, but since you've got a smart idea, why don't you let Harrington use it?" Haldersman said in a sarcastic tone.

Bradbury shrugged his shoulders. "Sure."

He then handed the device over to Dennis. Dennis then punched in the coordinates of the designated target, before he pushed in the red button that entered and transmitted the cooridnates.

"Roger that. Firing some 60mm shells on your command." A gruff, but calm voice spoke from the speaker at the top of the remote.

In a few minutes, the whistling noise of falling projectiles came down to the location that was designated in the strike, obliterating anything within the designated zone. After it was all done, all four soldiers looked up above the sheet metal, only to discover the whole carnage left by the artillery strikes. The jammer beacons were no longer to be found.

"Great work there, Harrington." The Sarge commended him, as Bradbury gave a dirty look at him. "Mike-One-Christy, we have cleared the radio waves, over."

Chapter Four- Rapid Fire (Continued)

"Roger that, Bravo-One-Charlie. Move in to the Final Sector and flush 'em all out!" the dispatcher responded.

"Affirmative." The Sarge replied back. "Alright team, let's move out!"

The squad of four soldiers proceeded to head to the fourth "sector" of the downtown core, rushing in the southern direction. Upon reaching the final sector of the core, they had encountered more enemy foot-soldiers taking patrol on the streets.

"Didn't we just got rid of these guys?" Salterlake remarked, as they opened fire.

Bullets flew as some enemy soldiers fired back while taking cover behind bulky objects. Two East-Canadian soldiers fired their armour-covered mounted machine-guns from their nests at the top levels of three-storey buildings, across the street from each other. The B-Company squad got behind rusted cars and started to fire back. Dennis armed his grenade-launching attachment on his rifle, and fired off a round that took out a few enemy troops that had bunched up.

Heavier sprays of bullets had pierced through the glass windows of civilian vehicles, and had struck the metallic structures of them, as the squad of four backed away slightly from the supressing fire. Sgt. Haldersman and Dennis got behind a side of a building, followed by Bradbury and Salterlake.

"Shoot, tangoes got us hammered down." Sgt. Haldersman cursed as the sounds of weapon fire continued. "Can't even get past those two MGs in those nests."

"Well, what are we supposed to do, Sarge?" Salterlake anxiously asked.

"Not sure what I'm gonna do; there's about 8 to 10 foot-mobiles on the ground there, and there's those pesky MGs in those nests above." Sgt. Haldersman pondered the thought for a few seconds. "Wait! I got it. Here's what I'm gonna have all of you that are gonna do..."

Chapter Four- Rapid Fire (Continued)

"Bradbury, see if you can distract the enemy soldiers on the ground." The Sarge directed quietly as he can. "Salterlake, find a spot point and relocate to another point before they find you. Harrington, you're gonna follow me and flank them."

Dennis replied. "Alright, sarge."

"Let's move, now!" The Sarge spoke out quietly, as Bradbury ran back into the open area of the street, while Salterlake headed to the opposite direction of him.

Sgt. Haldersman and Dennis then began to slowly move around the corner of the building and out with their rifles drawn. Bradbury rushed right out of the alleyway and avoided the fierece bursts of gunfire coming from the enemy soldiers on ground and in the nests. He began to fire back while hiding behind a concrete barrier.

"You think you Easties can get me?" Bradbury taunted at them, laughing out loudly as he reloaded his rifle quickly.

While Bradbury was dealing with the enemy troops, the Sarge and Dennis were exactly positioned at the far end of the street perpendicular to the one they were on. Sgt. Haldersman communicated to Salterlake on his portable radio device.

"Salterlake, take 'em all out right now!"

Sounds of quiet, supressed fire came from a distance as some East-Canadian infantry troops fell heavily to the ground, their rifles had flew off from their hands. Haldersman and Dennis began to rush in to the middle of the intersection, where they armed their grenades and tossed them directly spot-on at the heavy-MG nests. Both of them were taken out right away.

"Alright, that's the last of them. Squad, regroup!" The Sarge shouted as all four had regrouped at the fountain a few metres away from the conflict zone.

"Mike-One-Christy, this is Bravo-One-Charlie. We have secured all four sectors of downtown Timmins, and are requesting an evac. chopper on the double."

"Roger that, Bravo-One-Charlie. We are sending an evac. chopper to the destined LZ, ETA 10 minutes. Out."

Chapter Four- Rapid Fire (Conclusion)

A few minutes into the tense, eerie silence, the sounds of whistling-like noise increasing closely had piereced the air. Loud explosions came from kilometres ahead of the squad members, shaking the ground more and more intensely as they got close.

"What the heck..." Salterlake murmured loudly.

"MORTAR FIRE!" The Sarge bellowed as the incendiary pieces of metal swooped down and turned the worn-down buildings into explosive piles of rubble and debris.

"Squad, fall back! Fall back!" He yelled as they started to sprint away from the incoming mortar shells sweeping down closer and closer on them.

The Sarge cursed harshly. "Mike-One-Christy! Where's the evac chopper at?! We're getting pushed back by enemy mortar fire eastward of Timmins!"

"Don't panic further, Bravo-One-Charlie!" The dispatcher frantically replied. "The evac chopper is almost to your location."

"Well, get it to the L.Z. ASAP! We don't have any more time!" The Sarge responded with more panic.

"I'd never thought I would be in things such like this!" Bradbury yelled out his remark as the continued mortar fire had diminished almost every block of the core into shreds."

"I'd knew this would happen! I knew it would!" Salterlake yelped as he continued to sprint with the group.

"Hold on, Salterlake!" Sgt. Haldersman shouted back as he pointed at their vehicle of rescue in the skies.

The helicopter had landed a few metres away on a very large patch of grass, and the door had opened for them to board. One-by-one, the squad members escaped harm as the helicopter took off before the last of the mortar shellings had ceased. In no less than six short minutes, almost all of the city was razed and turned into rubble and scraps.

This story reminds me of the Cold War. Lol, I was starting to see the Berlin Wall.
Anyways, cool story. A bit off my normal taste of OMG, this could be happening without me knowing about...
This, in my opinion, is more of a possibility with everyone knowing about.

@ Xx13bluerosesxX: To be fair, the original Great Fight for Canada (the RPG, to be exact) happens to greatly resemble the Cold War. In the original, there were several independent states of western Canada against the authoritarian regime of the East, similar to that of the United States and the Soviet Union.

Chapter Five- Combat Zones

March 1991- Day 3
Cpt. David Theraultson
125th Land Forces Infantry Squad
Outside of Vancouver, B.C.

"Soldiers, check your arms!" A man with a camouflauged combat uniform raised his voice at the younger, slightly less-experienced recruits.

The young recruits looked over their military-issued firearms as they confusedly tried to check for any imperfections they made to their self-assembled rifles.

The man in charge groaned as he put his palm to the top of his face. "Privates! You're never going to tell where you did wrong until the enemy gets you!" He shouted.

"I want all of you to disassemble your weapons and start re-assembling right now!" And so they did.

While the group of eleven soldiers were busy disassembling and re-assembling their own rifles, a man dressed in fine top-ranked military clothing had walked into the area and met the man in charge of the exercise.

"Lieutenant, sir!" The man saluted.

"At ease, captain." The lieutenant responded. "Captain Theraultson, you mind if I have a word with you over at briefing?"

"Yes, sir." The captain replied as he began to follow the lieutenant as another person in charge of the exercise had taken over.
