I think it's because they're using lots of detail in the graphics. The recent metroid games are rated T too. I'd laugh if mario games followed in these footsteps too.

lol (the mario thing)...hey! I found a Mario game rated "T"! ... Oh wait... its Super Smash Bros. Melee...
Anyways... they said its because it has "fantasy violence and animated blood"... I thought all of the LoZ games had fantasy violence...

Considering Japan doesn’t have the same rating system as ours it would never get a T. Japan never did get a rating system until 2002. I’m sure if it was around back then it would get something close to what is an E+10 here.
