North America and Europe can EASILY combat the swine flu. Medicine will be a lot better in the future, and if we can battle H1N1 now, evolutions of it will be combattible hopefully.

Neither does apple and milk. D:
| QUOTE | Make people frightened and they'll be more careful, which potentially means fewer people getting sick and fewer people dying.
Insecto: Until panic over the pandemic starts killing people, I think that it's safe to say that we should be more afraid of the illness. :P |
Looking at your first sentence, I was going to say that panic does kill people. If not, it greatly increases stress, negativity and gives you ill health! D:< If only people could be more careful yet not panic at the same time...

And I will now quote the note about the flu I got today...
| QUOTE (Note) | Dear Parents and Caregivers,
The purpose of this letter is to keep you informed about the H1N1 infuenza virus in our community and to ask for your help in stopping the spread of this respiratory illness.
Dr.________, Deputy Medical Health Officer for the ______ Health Region, reports the following: • This new virus has caued illness throughout ______ and the ____ Health Region; and is circulating in some schools, daycares, work places and at social gatherings. • Originally this virus was associated with travel to Mexico or contact with someone ill who had travelled to Mexico. This virus in now more widespread. We are now seeing this virus in individuals with no history of travel or contact with ill travellers. • The pattern of illness seen to date has been like that of seasonal influenza and has presented with mild or moderate disease.
Symptoms of the virus include: ○ Fever ○ Cough ○ Body aches ○ Runny nose ○ Sore throat ○ Fatigue ○ Sometimes vomiting and diarrhea
The virus in spread by breathing in infected droplets when you are close to someone sneezing or coughing and by contact with something recently infected, such as hands, door knobs or other hard surfaces.
Take the following steps to protect you and your faimly: ◘ Stay home from work, school, and daycare if you are ill. Avoid contact with people until you are better (stay home for 24 hours after your symptoms are better). ◘ Teach children to: ○ wash their hands often and thoroughly with soap and water for 20 seconds. ○ cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue and then dispose of the tissue and wash their hands. ○ cover coughs and sneezes with the inside of their elbow if a tissue is not available ○ use alcohol hand gel to clean their hands if hand washing is not readily available. ○ stay at least one meter away from people who are sick. |

Next Black Plague, eh? I think it's just an overreaction. Yes, people have died, but with proper medical treatment (which the vast majority of us have access to) and you'll be fine. It's nothing big, just basically a flu...with explosive diarrhea =D

You know where most people have died? IN MEXICO, a 3rd world country. In other words, they have poor health care, and a poor government.
Why people have died elsewhere? They had other health problems.
I had the flu once, I was deathly sick, and I'm still alive today, 6 years later. The swine flu is even less deadly, so there's nothing to worry about.
People that have died from swine flu in total: less than 300 people. People that die from heart problems in Canada each day: 300 people.
So really, it's WAY overrated.
CASE CLOSED!

My teacher has swine flu and he was just away for a day. It's milder than a regular flu...the funny thing is, my nose started feeling runny after he talked about infecting the whole class. o__O

Nearly 30,000 confirmed cases, over 145 people died, and the WHO(World Health Organization) has declared it a "Global Pandemic".
(source cnn)
"As of Friday, 29,669 cases of the H1N1 virus have been reported in 74 countries, the WHO said. The total number of deaths worldwide has reached 145."
GOKUNAI: You're teacher had SWINE FLU? Why the heck is he at a SCHOOL, with a VIRUS, that can be EASILY spread to OTHERS?

Yep it's now confirmed a pandemic. Though the government refuse to take further action unless more severe cases emerge. The thing is, the death victims of H1N1 are not only infected with H1N1 but in combination with other illnesses/diseases such as lung disease, heart infections, etc. So the number of people who died ONLY by the cause of H1N1 - nothing else; with no other combinations of sicknesses - are quite low.
