I have the exact same problem. It like whenever you and a friends are talking you feel like saying something but then you don't because you think it something stupid and they well make fun of you. I try to ignore the voice and just keep talking and if you do say something stupid people would just forget about it eventually .

Just be yourself. Don't be afraid to speak your mind. So what if you have a different view of something than others? That's what makes you an individual.

It's not uncommon to feel like you're putting on a mask - especially when in high school! You're definitely not alone! Sometimes the way I act is a lot different when I'm at school than compared to at home. It even sometimes differ from people to people~
I think it's something you adjust to after awhile. I used to act significantly differently between school and home..but as the years went by I find the way I am putting on less of a 'mask'.
I think it's because you're in high school. I find a lot of high schoolers are always pressured to feel like they HAVE to fit in with certain groups of people, thus, changing the way they act. Sometimes you might not like it, but it becomes such an automatic response! People always say, "Don't subject yourselves to peer pressure!" but in fact, it can be quite difficult...unfortunately.
The best thing you can do is surround yourself with good people. KNOW what your morals are and keep to them. If your friends give you weird looks for saying something silly, that doesn't automatically mean have to stop being 'who you are'. I always said a lot of silly things in school and always got weird looks...but you know, I just shrugged them off. If they don't get me, they don't get me. (It's always good to have at least some good friends you can confide with though. If you ever do get frustrated at least you can go to them to talk to).
If you ever do end up questioning who you are, make sure you want to change for yourself...not just because a bunch of people say so.
Anyways, I wouldn't care if they gave me a weird look. If they keep doing it just give them a weird look back bahahahahaha.
Take care~
