When it comes to spending money at Anime North, I think of a couple of attractions.
The Nominoichi (think of it as an anime flea market by fans) still attracted a lot of attention. Fans can buy items (a number which cannot be seen at today’s dealers room) from other fans at a very low price. I know I managed to get some rare items.
The dealers room had a huge variety of merchandise from DVDs to manga to plush. But what surprised a lot of fans was the lower pricing on a number of items. I’m glad I got some of the DVDs and plush I was looking for.
The Artist Alley space felt bigger compared to the previous years but what I noticed this year was the new Pokemon art from the fans. I have to admit, a lot of the artwork was very enticing to buy.
And for all those specials items at the charity auction, I’m glad to hear all of the charity auctions were sold out.
I’m also glad to see all of the gaming rooms were filled with enthusiastic gamers. Some rooms were more crowded than others but there was always something new to try. All of the games ranged from RPGs to video games to card games and all the way to events such as Anime Match Game, Anime Jeopardy, and Anime Family Feud.
Stay tuned next time for my final thoughts at Anime North 2010.
