The reason they have abstinence is because they aren't wanting it to be for pleasure but more for the gift of life. My parents know this gay couple that goes to our church and they're really nice guys but I'm kind of confused by them.

Religion has taken things too far, it used to just be the way that people thought of things before they could figure things out themselves with science. But now, it's one of the biggest reasons for war.
Not supporting the use of condoms is a lot different then saying you shouldn't use a condom... especially in Africa. Religion was a good idea, saying that you should be nice to everybody, but when you try to mix that with rules that a billion people are trying to force onto people, it's bad.
Now, I really think the world would be better off without religion, but that'll happen when pigs fly... on Pluto. On fire.
Like Gandhi once said, "I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians."

This is not a point about religion, this is a point about the corrupt Catholic Church.
ONE in every SIX people believe that the Pope has a direct line to God, including the Pope himself; a complete recipe for disaster. It means that ONE in every SIX people think that everything that the Pope says is TRUE. And so, ONE in every SIX people believe that condoms aggravate the AIDS crisis rather than stem the flow of infection.
AIDS kills 2 million people a year, with 1.4 million of those people living in Sub-Saharan Africa. AIDS is killing people at nearly the same rate as Hitler was killing Jews during the Holocaust.
In 2008, 22.4 million people were living with AIDS already and 2 million more became infected by the year's end. All of these people will die because of it, and 90% of these people would NOT have contracted it had condoms been used.
The main argument comes from the Catholic view of abstinence, which is fine for whoever decides to follow it, but it isn't practical. Catholicism may be the largest religious denomination, but not everyone buys into it. People are going to be having sex regardless, people are going to be having children regardless. Abstinence is the key in a FANTASY WORLD. Life isn't a fairy tale. There is going to be sexual abuse and there's going to be consensual intercourse between two people who just don't know.
I haven't even BEGUN on the sex abuse scandal with the priests within the Catholic Church. They have regulations outlining that the child abuse cases are to be literally covered up with lies. Recently, they've been incorrectly slapping on the label of "homosexual" rather than "child molester" to the abusive priests. It's all to keep their image nice and sparkling clean. It's absolutely sickening.

It's founded upon certain principles, including the belief that the Pope is infallible - therefore every Catholic believes that condoms are sinful and cause AIDS, as the Pope has stated. That's your corruption there.

Like Ghost said, we don't live in a fantasy world, but I think that the Catholics have much to do with that. They don't seem to get that they are the ones who are instigating and provoking all these conflicts and I've kinda reached my tipping point with them.

Another point I'd like to add. Yeah, you guys are all talking about how the 40 million people would be insulted with the idea of not using condoms for protect against AIDS or other STIs or whatever. But think of all of ther 2.1 billion people who would be offended about you guys talking about how stupid religion in general is. And this 2.1 billion is just under the Christianity population. In other words, not including Muslim, Buddhist, Islam, and so on.

I truly have no respect for religion in this world because of all these things and it is so true that people would be better off without it!
