The Speed Mechanic is one of the most important Mechanics of the game. In order to win, you must be able to get what you need faster than your opponent can. A lot of decks run by little kids have something like 9 tributes and 7-8 Equipment Cards like Malevolent Nuzzler, Reinforcements and other stuff like that. It isnt a good idea to load a deck with cards that can slow it down. Here is the balance for your average tournament deck... Tributes~2-3 Non-Tributes~14-16 Spells~15-17 Traps~4-7 Now, Spells are some of the fastest deck thinners there are. Other options if you like using Cannon Soldier or other monsters like that are the Elemental Searchers like UFO Turtle or Giant Rat. Speed is an important mechanic and chances are you wont win unless you can utilize it. Cards like Rush Recklessly will do nothing but slow you down. Decks like Dark Magician Decks use stuff that can get their main monster out as fast as possible. So try and utilize the Speed Factor as well as you can. Unless you run Stall of course, but even then, some level of Speed is important.
