In Canada...and america i guess, people tend to immediatly link animation with a child audience. So when anime comes here, companies try to direct them to children making the appropriate changes even if the have to "mutilate" the series.

You forget that using the same voice actors is not a good idea, why, its quite simple, Japanese and English are two languages that have no simliarities. Furthmore, most voice actor in Japan can not speak fluent english, and if they could, they usually have an acent. Prime example, Zatch Bell. the Orignal name is Gash, but in japanese its pronounced Gashu (Gah-shu), now, thats no where to the dub name given.

I understand that dubs most of the time ruin the whole concept changing whole scripts at a time. Now think of it from their point of view, in Japan there is no problem where swearing is constant, but in North America its not custom to swear awhole lot. Again, I use Gash Bell as an example. The show targets almost every age, not in Japan its not so much a big detail from time to time if you see one of the characters swear, but again, we're in North America, would any parent in their right mind show a child a show aimed at their kids that has swearing in it? Same applies for deleted scenes.

If its such a big concern to not miss any moment, then watch the orignal raw or fansubbed eps. Or do what I do, read the manga, the translated ones are more leanent about things, and usual nothing is cut from the orignal, and I personally just prefer mangas over animes these days.

Most of the time the anime is different than what it is in Japan...take Sailor Moon in Japan u will not see someone under the age of 18 watching it, but because of the editing it has become a show for younger audiences. Plus don't forget most of us when we watch dubbed/raw anime it does not have commercials.
