This age Group means that The Anime Channel won't be restricted to some genres of Anime that may be too violent or graphic for YTV to air due to YTV's Age Demographic. However this doesn't mean The Anime Channel won't air Anime for a younger demographic. As of this time no Titles have been liscened for The Anime Channel.

'YTV announced that it has applied to the CRTC for permission to launch a Canadian category 2 TV station called "The Anime Channel". The Anime Channel's programming would be mostly anime and anime related content, geared towards an adult audience.'

'Programming will be targeted exclusively to adults over the age of 18. A minimum of 65% of the broadcast year will consist of anime programs and a maximum of 35% of the broadcast year will be anime-related programs. 85% of the programming will fall under the categories of ‘feature films’, ‘animation’, and ‘other drama’. No more than 15% of the schedule will be dedicated to information based programs.'

It sounds interesting despited being aimed towards a specific age group. What do you think?
